Children may bring a lunch from home or purchase a hot lunch. The District has a point-of-sale system enabling parents, if they wish, to prepay. In the cafeteria, children access the system using a keypad and pin number. The cashier views their photo, name, account balance, and any information regarding allergies or food restrictions. The cost of lunch is then deducted from the child's account.
